Fotografia: Marisa Bernardes VIVER NUMA REALIDADE PÓS-HUMANA: CIÊNCIA, ARTE E ‘OUTRAMENTOS’INÊS FERREIRA-NORMAN (2021-06-29) Publicaçãoem ARTE CAPITAL &nbsp;︎ More info @ “ (…)&nbsp; Mais recentemente, fui ver ‘Wombat’, uma exposição na EMERGE em Torres Vedras, da artista Sónia Carvalho (1978-) e com curadoria de Mafalda Duarte Barrela. A exposição gritava feminismo performativo, e fiquei entusiasmada por ver temas como a deusa e o sagrado em representações tão contemporâneas, atuais. A peça central da exposição – um chapéu cerimonial feito de materiais – como Shaffer – que podemos encontrar em qualquer estúdio de artista hoje em dia, ‘Nahui Ollin’, 2021, estava carregado com o voodoo da própria Carvalho. Nahui Ollin pode traduzir-se em quatro movimentos, na cultura Azteca. Dizia-se que quando o quarto sol acabasse, Nahui Ollin emergiria dos restos da matéria de uma idade anterior da humanidade, o que é dizer renascimento. Havia algo muito corporal em toda as ações patentes na exposição: as posturas de desporto, o ato de limpar e as formas geométricas que claramente apontavam para o simbolismo da terra (o círculo e o quadrado) e da fertilidade (o triângulo) obscureceram o contexto do ‘Manifesto do Ciborgue’ que lhe foi atribuída. O feminismo em ‘Wombat’ era mais parecido com o ativismo de Dominique Mazeaud, que fez a ‘Grande limpeza do Rio Grande’, 17 de Setembro de 1987 a 17 de Abril de 1994 (tradução livre de ‘The great cleansing of Rio Grande’), um ato que viu mudanças profundas na paisagem e na comunidade envolvida. ‘Wombat’ não teve a dimensão da comunidade, mas a forma como ambas criaram uma linguagem emancipatória de comportamento – e curiosamente ambas utilizando a limpeza – é comparável: Mazeaud criou a palavra ‘heartist’ [que amalgama ‘heart’ (coração) e ‘artist’ (artista)], e é tão ativista como a criação de ‘wombat’ [que amalgama ‘woman’ (mulher) e ‘combat’ (combate)]. Mazeaud usa o conceito de afinidade, e Carvalho usa o conceito de combate. São, no entanto, estratégias performativas que quebram normas sociais: afinidade num mundo capitalista, e o combate num mundo machista.
